Big news was shared with the Congregation at the Spring Open Forum which was held March 25th.after the Sunday service. The Search Committee has narrowed its search for Zion’s next minister to one candidate, Rev. Lori Schroeder. Currently a minister at a UCC church in Illinois, she has been called by Zion’s Council, subject to a Congregation vote on April 22nd.
Members should have received a letter announcing the following events on that weekend. The candidate will arrive in Owensboro on Friday, April 20th, and will be the dinner guest of the Search Committee and the Council on that evening. On Saturday morning, April 21st there will be a “Brunch” from 10-11:30 AM to give the Congregation a chance to meet Rev. Schroeder.
That afternoon, she will conduct a Bible Study from 4 to 5 PM; allowing members an opportunity to see her in a different role. This will be followed by a 5:30 PM “potluck” supper and an Open Forum at which time members may ask questions.
Rev. Schroeder will deliver the sermon and lead the Congregation in worship on Sunday morning, April 22nd. At the conclusion of the service, the Congregation will vote concerning the call.
