PRAYERS AND SYMPATHY

The Zion family wishes to extyend our prayers and sympathy to the family and friends of Ruth (Gillim) Lang, who died Dec. 14, 2009.  Mrs. Lang was a life-long member of Zion United Church of Christ, where she was one of the first women elected to the church council.  She served in that capacity from 1973 through 1976.  Mrs. Lang served Zion in many other ways including teaching Sunday school, serving on committees, and being an officer of the Women's Guild.

Zion's records show that Ruth Hamilton Gillim was born Jan. 22, 1916, and baptized on Jan. 30, 1916 by Rev. Henry Grafe.  her parents were Robert Lee Gillim and Anna Christina (Purrucker) Gillim.  The Purrucker family has been associated with Zion since at least 1886.

Ruth Hamilton Gillim was confirmed at Zion Evangelical Church on April 1, 1928 by Rev. Christian T. Rasche, and married Ivor W. Lang on Dec. 25, 1951.

Ruth was alos preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1982 and by a sister, Frances Grace Gillim, and a brother, Robert Mack Gillim.  Survivors include her brother, Douglas Lee Gillim.
